Features
Built for speed. Gilded in gold.
Everything you read here is built and tested – with real measurements from development. What's still missing is listed openly on the roadmap.
Performance
A native Rust launcher – no Electron, no web tech. And for 26.3, a Rust engine of its own.
- Launcher: first frame after ~300 ms, of which Apophis itself needs ~3 ms
- Apophis Runtime: 3 to 4 times the FPS at render distance 16, twice the 1 % lows
- 9 times faster startup, less than half the memory
- Fresh install of 26.3 in 4.9 s instead of 27.6 s – files from other launchers are reused
- Idle mode: 0.2 % instead of 12.8 % of one CPU core in the background
- JVM presets with G1 and Generational ZGC

Companion Mod
A Fabric mod for 19 Minecraft versions that brings your profile's feature switches into the game.
- Minecraft 1.20 – 26.3 in 12 jars, each verified with an in-world self-test
- Zoom, freecam, fullbright, chunk borders, waypoints, build tools, spawn sphere, minimap, HUD layout
- Telemetry: avg FPS, 1 % low, frametime p99, peak memory, chunks/s – straight into the benchmarks
- The required Fabric API modules are bundled in the jar

Visual Effects
Warm gold in the highlights, turquoise in the shadows, sand instead of glitter – or the violet Cosmos look.
- Biome ambience, sand trail, shockwave, hit sparks, build animation
- Golden block outline with break progress, Apophis crosshair, feature toasts
- Colour grading, chromatic aberration, depth of field, motion blur
- In-game menu on Right Shift – changes apply instantly

Profiles
Every profile is its own client – with its own folder, its own mods and its own look.
- Create, duplicate, export/import as .apophis and share codes
- Workspace with banner and tabs: Overview, Mods, Resource Packs, Shaders, Settings, Performance, Game Features
- Feature switches per profile → config/apophis/features.json
- Multiple Microsoft accounts, stored safely in the system keyring

Mod Integration
Modrinth and CurseForge right inside the launcher – search, install, update, roll back.
- Built-in browser for mods, resource packs and shaders with screenshots and descriptions
- Dependency preview, conflicts, updates, rollback
- Modpack import: .mrpack, CurseForge .zip, .noriskpack
- Instance import from the CurseForge app, Modrinth App, Prism, MultiMC and Minecraft Launcher

Discord Rich Presence
“Using the Apophis Launcher” – and while you play: profile, Minecraft version and loader.
- Its own IPC client without an SDK, protocol verified against a running Discord
- The Apophis Runtime reports through the Apophis app too
- Can be switched off in the settings

Custom Rendering
The Apophis Runtime is a fifth launch mode: a Rust engine on wgpu for Minecraft 26.3.
- Signed build, game files prepared from your own 26.3 copy
- LOD far view: Balanced 256, Quality 512, Ultra 1024 chunks
- Visuals as native Rust mods – the same look as in Java mode
- Session passed via standard input, never on the command line

Custom Weather
Weather as particles in a shared pool – not as an overlay.
- Sandstorm: horizontal streaks of sand plus a light sand haze over the HUD
- Glass rain: thin streaks along the direction of fall
- Nile mist: in the morning over water and in hollows, fading as the sun rises
- Denser snow

Atmosphere
A sky from ancient Egypt – or from deep space.
- Corona of Ra, Sky of Nut with the Milky Way, Nile aurora, Eclipse of Apophis at new moon
- Golden haze on the horizon at sunrise and sunset
- Cosmos: violet dome, ringed planet, black hole with accretion disk, aurora, shooting stars
- Ambience styles: Lights, Stardust, Petals, Snow – or automatic per biome

Idle mode

Honestly: the limits
- The Apophis Runtime only supports Minecraft 26.3 – older versions run in Java mode.
- Fabric and Forge mods don’t run in Runtime mode.
- The engine has 833 known gaps; parts of the game are missing or behave differently.
- On large servers, deviating behaviour can trigger anti-cheat – Java mode is the safe choice there.
- Forge and NeoForge are planned but don’t launch yet.
- The Microsoft login is still waiting for Mojang to approve the Apophis app.
